Our caliber is a stud. This page is its technical sheet, and the closest thing we have to a manifesto.
Most garments carry their identity in ink: a logo, a graphic, a print that starts dying at the first wash. We wanted a signature that gets better with age. Metal wears in: the high edges polish where they rub, the recesses keep their depth, and after a year the hardware reads richer than the day it arrived. That is why every Stud & Star piece is identified by what is set into it, never by what is printed on it.
Nickel-free brass, antique gold finish, knurled edge. Brass because it ages instead of rusting; nickel-free because hardware that touches skin all day must comply with EU REACH release limits, and because one customer in seven reacts to nickel and we would rather lose the cheaper alloy than the customer. The knurling is our texture: it catches light the way a print never can, and it is the detail you feel with a thumb before you see it.
The whole house runs on two shapes and only two: the 8 mm knurled dome and the eight-point star. One is order, one is sky. Every piece, from the heaviest hoodie to the lightest blouse, draws from this same pair, in the same finish. That is what makes a Stud & Star recognisable across lines without a single logo.
Every stud and star passes through the fabric and closes on an internal flat washer that spreads the load across the weave. No glue, anywhere, ever. On seams the fabric is already doubled; on single-layer fleece every piece of metal gets its own backing. Average handwork per garment: fourteen minutes. It is the most expensive decision we make, and the one we will never optimise away.
Before a construction ships it survives three ordeals: five wash cycles at 30 degrees in a net; a five-kilo pull test per stud on sample pieces; and seventy-two hours on a hanger, fully loaded, to prove the fabric does not creep. A piece that fails any of the three goes back to the bench, not to the customer.
Hand-set can be hand-reset. Every box ships with a spare stud in a felt pouch; if you ever lose one, we set it back free, for the life of the garment, for every owner it will ever have. A garment that can be repaired is a garment designed to be kept, and that is the quiet luxury we are actually selling.
